3 Blizzards Down.. and No.. Not from Dairy Queen

  • We are finally done with our 3 blizzards we had here this week! . The snow has multiplied a few times!  Don’t know the total centimeters, but I would guess around 60+!  We were banned to our apartments for 3 days and by the end of it all.. I was SO excited to be outside again, talk about going crazy!!  haha. After all the storms it started to warm up and we are in the positives again so that is a bonus! Lots and Lots of snow!
  • Auntie Jackie Aucoin got us “The Perfect Man” for Valentine’s Day  They are so funny! The chocolate was quite yummy so I was happy!!:)  We got to celebrate their one year from Jackies first lesson on Saturday with them with Tomato Soup and a Tower of Grilled Cheese’s.. YUM!!  Uncle Steve is the best chef in the Province
  • Becca is doing well, we went through the learning and serving in the church with her and our intent for the lesson was to help her set goals and plans to become more converted! She got off of probation on Thursday so that was a really fun celebration for her and she says she finally feels free!! When we got there she had a little piece of paper she gave us that she had written the hymns she wants to sing and the people she wants to give talks at her baptism and it was really cute.
  • Bill is doing well, we taught about families and temples and he said,” well, I always thought I would see my wife again.. I just didn’t know how.” haha! We made some visuals for the plan of salvation and laid them out on his floor and left them there when we left so that he could continue to study them when we left!!  He is really coming along and has been showing a lot of real intent with keeping all of his commitments except coming to church.
  • The Branch is doing very well here! Every week it gets a little bit stronger!! Because of the struggles we have been having getting people out to church, they are reorganizing our branch into a “Basic Unit” which pretty much just means that the Young Womens and Young Mens are run by the Relief Society and Elders Quorum, and they get rid of those auxiliaries! Then the Branch Presidency is in charge of the Sunday School and they get rid of that auxiliary.  Living in a small branch is SO DIFFERENT from Utah!:)
  • Met the cutest lady this week that is less active, she quit coming to church because after she was baptized and they were teaching her about the temple, she thought that they said we talk to dead people in the temple and it scared her so she left! Haha!  She is SO CUTE!  So we talked to her about how we don’t talk to dead people like paranormal activity in the temple and now she is really excited to prepare to go to the temple!:)
  • We had a Family History booth in the Truro Farmers Market again and there was a vendor right next to us that sold chocolate in a billion different shapes so we got some little Lego men…and again.. very good chocolate! I am telling you Canadians have really figured out their chocolate recipes!!

Truro Nova Scotia: Home of the Onesie

Well, we just wrapped up Onesie week here in T-Town! There is a Onesie and Long John factory here, so they have had a celebration all week where everyone wears their onesies and their long johns everywhere they go!  President Pratt wouldn’t give in to our plea to go contacting in them, BUT we did celebrate by wearing our onesies to bed this week!  WAY FUN!

  • We met the cutest old lady this week that is apparently a member of our branch, but just can’t make it in to church. She is the future me.. WHY?  because she has EVERYTHING PINK!!  It was so awesome:) We got along just great!!
  • Had a Skype call at the church for about 45 minutes, when we went into the church, it was a nice calm night!! When we came out of the church.. FULL OUT BLIZZARD!! It took us 25 minutes to get home, which is usually about a 5-7 minute drive haha!!  The weather really has bi-polar issues here!!
  • Had a Multi-Religion Choir Concert this week at the United Church! It was a benefit concert and all the churches in town got together and put on a concert to raise money for it! It was a lot of fun to see everyone working together for a good cause.
  • Becca is still doing so awesome.. she has been thinking about the temple a lot more than baptism lately so.. THATS AWESOME!
  • We asked our neighbor for garlic powder.. acting like good mormons.. and she didnt have any, but she gave us these cute little garlics and told us to cook them.. haha!! I dont know!!  I just don’t understand things that happen in the kitchen!!

Well folks have a good week. It looks like a snow giant threw up outside so I better get going..  PEACE!!! – Sister Kilmer

It’s snowing…again 🙂

First things first, I learned a cool fun fact at church this week.. The very first vision that Joseph Smith records in the Doctrine in Covenants was exactly 165 years before I was born on my birthday.. Kinda cool eh?  haha! Anyways, It has been a great week!

  • I was sick on Friday and Saturday for some reason.. don’t know where it came from, but I felt nasty and my head was so hot you could cook a marshmallow on it, but on Sunday I woke up feeling quite better, just a little sore throat so its all good!:) Then Sunday night I got a huge deep cough going so I have this nice deep voice now.. ITS GREAT:)
  • Zone Conference in Dartmouth was amazing! It was my favorite meeting I have had on my mission yet out of every District and Zone meeting! It was awesome! The spirit was so strong and that really set the tone for SO much personal revelation. There were many questions that I took to Zone conference and I was able to answer most of them and I was able to gain more questions (isn’t that funny how the Gospel works?)
  • We started teaching a new investigator Valerie! She is really awesome! She lives on the Indian Reservation here in Truro in the Mik’Ma community! She is from here but she has been living in Missouri with her American husband and they are moving back here and are looking for a religion, and a home!  We were like.. well we have got the religion and it just so happens a member just moved out of her apartment and is looking for someone to take it over.. so pretty cool!!:)
  • We had a hot chocolate stand in a blizzard.. Rain or Shine these people never stop up here!! haha:) There is ALWAYS people out and about!! Its so crazy..
  • LOVE YOU ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD WEEK!!:)
